LIFE+ is the european financial instrument for environment, established by Regulation (EC) N. 614/2007 of the European Parliament and Council of 23/05/2007.
The objective of LIFE + is to contribute to the implementation, updating and development of policy and legislation on the environment, including the integration of environment into other policies, thereby promoting sustainable development.

LIFE+ comprises three components:

  1. Nature and Biodiversity, whose objective is to protect, conserve, restore, monitor and facilitate the functioning of natural systems, natural habitats and of wild flora and fauna, with the aim of halting biodiversity loss by 2010 in the EU
  2. Environmental Policy and Governance, whose objective is to contribute to the implementation, updating and development of environmental policy and legislation, including the integration of environmental concerns into other policies
  3. Information and communication, whose aim is to ensure a smooth and efficient flow of information in order to provide the basis for policy decisions on the environment and to make information accessible to citizens on status and trends of environment
